The history of Ferrari S.p.A, a world-famous sports car brand, began in 1928 in Italy, when a young racing car driver Enzo Ferrari of Maranello decided to live out his dream. Initially, the company went under the title Scuderia Ferrari and was engaged in the production of racing cars as well as racers sponsoring. Since 1947, the company attained its current name and started production of urbanized sports cars. Ferrari is a nowadays a buzzword thanks in no small part to participate in the world championship in ring-track car racing and other racing competitions. The experience, technology, and popularity of the brand make the company a major player on the car-maker market. The demand for Ferrari cars exceeds the offer. For quite a long time Fiat Concern held 50% of Ferrari shares, but after consolidation with Chrysler Ferrari was made a separate company for a restructuring of debts. Now Ferrari aspires to raise production up to 10,000 sports cars annually, new developments are also in the pipeline. These include hybrid system development, production of innovative cars as well as exclusive models of supercars.
As of 2017, the net profit of Ferrari increased by 34% and amounted to 537 million EUR. Pretax profit has reached 1,036 billion EUR, which is 18% more than a year before.
